Gateway Improvements Presentation
A representative from Nolte Vertical 5 (NV5), an international engineering firm, presented a preliminary landscape plan for Castle Pines gateways. First impressions of the community are important and Council selected NV5 to identify highly visible gateways into and out of the City where medians and areas adjacent to major roadways could be enhanced with landscaping, sidewalk improvements and other design elements. These improvements are meant to reinforce the City's brand, create consistency along the City's major roadways and build upon existing design elements already present throughout the community.
A plant material list was discusses and reviewed. The next steps for this project include NV5 developing final cost estimates, completing final landscape design details and creating an installation timeline for Council approval.
Electronic Messaging Boards Discussion
City Manager, Don Van Wormer provided an update on the potential installation of an electronic message board sign proposed to be installed at the corner of Lagae Rd. and Castle Pines Pkwy. Several firms were contacted and Yesco Sign and Lighting Services has been selected for the project. The purpose of the electronic message board is to serve as a communications tool for the City and display pertinent information like special events, emergency notifications, road maintenance and other City news. The corner of Lagae Rd. and Castle Pines Pkwy. was identified as an ideal location because the intersection is well-traveled and the sign would be visible from multiple angles, providing maximum exposure to motorists.
